Paying a cheque or cash deposit into an Under 16s account
As your child’s parent or guardian, you’re the main account holder. For this reason, you can't pay cheques in your child's name directly into an Under 16s account.
You also can't make cash deposits directly into an Under 16s account.
Paying cheques in your child's name
You can pay cheques in your name into your personal or joint account. You can then move the money to your Under 16s account.
To pay in a cheque to your account in your child's name we would also need you to do the following:
Write on the back: ""underage child"", and your name/signature (parent/guardian) with your Monzo account number where we will deposit the funds
Send over in the chat a birth certificate copy/passport for the child who's name the cheque is made out to
You can then send it by regular or tracked post – both take 1 to 2 weeks. We recommend using tracked post.
Put your cheque in a stamped envelope and send to: Monzo, PO Box 7628, Bilston WV14 4DG
You can also send by FREEPOST, but this takes 3 to 4 weeks. To do this, just write FREEPOST MONZO on the envelope. (No stamp needed.)
We’ll let you know when we’ve got your cheque. It usually takes 4 to 6 working days from that point for the money to reach your account.
Making a cash deposit into your personal account
You can make cash deposits into your personal account. You can then move the money to your Under 16s account.
