Paying an Under 16s account with a payment link
How payment links work
You can send money straight to an Under 16s account using their payment link.
A child’s payment link is managed by their parent or guardian. They can reset it at any time.
With a payment link, you can:
Send money from any UK debit card. You don’t need to be a Monzo customer.
Add an optional nickname to your payment – Useful if the child doesn’t know you by your full name. They’ll see the payment come from the nickname that you choose. They’ll be able to see your full name if they go to the transaction details.
Leave a personalised note with your payment.
The child’s parent or guardian will be able to see your name, nickname, note and the amount of any payments that you send.
Keeping payment links safe
Under 16s can receive up to £250 in total (not per individual payment) over a 30 day period via their payment link. If your payment fails, they may have reached this limit.
Make sure you recognise the name of the person you’re paying, and the name of the person who manages the link.
Don’t pay someone you don’t know using a payment link.
If you’re suspicious of a payment link, don’t use it, and you can report it to us.
