We want you to have the best experience when using the Monzo apps.
To do this, we have a set of operating systems that we actively support, so you can use Monzo from your mobile device.
What is a mobile operating system?
Your 'operating system' (or 'OS') is the software that runs on your phone or tablet.
We support both the iOS and Android operating systems, and have an app that runs on each of these OSs.
Operating system versions we support
What we support strikes a balance between:
Which OS versions the majority of our customers use, and what other banks support
Which OS versions get security updates
We have a responsibility to protect our customers. Using an older OS version comes with extra risk
The total number of OS versions there are to support
New versions of iOS and Android come out each year. The Monzo app runs best on these most recent OS versions, and we want customers to have the best experience possible
We support a fixed number of OS versions: 4 versions of iOS and 8 versions of Android.
At the moment, we support iOS 17 and later, and Android 10 and later. When iOS 27 and Android 17 come out in 2026, we will stop supporting iOS 17 and Android 10.
What happens when we stop supporting an operating system version?
When we stop supporting an OS version that you're using, we'll email you to let you know. You'll then have at least 10 months before we stop you accessing your Monzo account from that device.
If you're using an OS version that we've stopped supporting you have three options:
Upgrade your operating system version, if you can
Change the device you use to access Monzo
Close your Monzo account
Upgrade your operating system version
Devices will come with a specific version of an OS, and the manufacturers provide updates for several years after it's released. If you can upgrade your OS, please do so. You can then continue to use the app and access your account as usual.
Change the device you use to access Monzo
You may have multiple devices - for example, a phone and a tablet. If one of the devices isn't compatible, it's possible that another device is.
Close your Monzo account
If you no longer have a device with which to access your Monzo account, you may wish to close it.
If you still have access to a device we support, you can do this yourself from the Settings screen in the Monzo app.
If you don't, please get in touch and we can help you with this.
