    Questions? Answers.

Should I get a credit card?

That really depends on you and what you’re looking to achieve. In general though, using a credit card and paying it off in full each month can be a good way to build your credit score and protect purchases. You can also get credit cards that reward you for your spending.

If you don’t pay your credit card off in full each month high interest rates can cost you money so you’ll need to watch out for that. There’s also a risk that having a credit limit tempts you to pay for things you can’t afford.

Is it better to get a credit card or a loan?

That really depends on you and how you plan to use the credit.

A credit card is a form of ‘revolving credit’, which means you can keep reusing and repaying it (as long as you stay within the limit). Most credit cards let you be flexible about how much you repay each month, although you’ll need to meet the minimum payment.

A loan is a lump sum that you repay over several months or years, plus any interest or fees. Loans are commonly used for large, one-off expenses, like home improvements or a wedding. You can typically borrow bigger amounts at lower rates with a loan, but you can't reuse the funds once they've been repaid. Loans tend to give you less flexibility, as your payments will normally be the same each month.

    What is Section 75 protection?

Section 75 protection means you could get your money back if you buy something between £100 and £30,000 and it turns out to be faulty or doesn't turn up.

Do Monzo Credit Cards charge fees for spending abroad?

Nope, we charge you Mastercard’s exchange rate and nothing else.

What’s the difference between Flex Build, Flex Purchase and Aura?

We recommend checking out the side-by-side comparison table to see how the benefits stack up between the three.

In short though, Flex Build is the credit card designed to give your credit score a helping hand. Flex Purchase is for everyday borrowing and spreading costs. And Aura is the credit card that earns you cashback and then auto-invests it for you, with partner perks thrown in too.
