Managing an Under 16s account's payment link
How payment links work
Your child’s payment link allows friends and family to send money straight to them.
Anyone you share the link with can:
Send money from any UK debit card. They don’t need to be a Monzo customer.
Add an optional nickname to their payment – Useful if your child only knows them as ‘Auntie Jo’. Your child will see the payment come from the nickname that they choose. Your child can see the individual’s full name if they go to the transaction details.
Leave a personalised note with their payment. As the child’s parent or guardian, you can edit or remove the payment note if you’d like to.
You’ll be notified and see all the details (name, nickname, note, amount) of any payments that your child receives.
Your child can receive up to £250 in total (not per individual payment) over a 30 day period via their payment link. If you have multiple children, they each have a different payment link with a separate limit.
How to find and share your child’s payment link
Go to the Under 16s account in your app.
Tap the 3 dots on their card.
Go to Share payment link.
Follow the steps to share the link, or reset it.
Keeping payment links safe
As the main account holder, you can reset the link whenever you need to. This can be handy if you no longer want someone with the link to be able to send money.
Resetting the link will mean the old link will stop working. You can then share the new link with friends and family.
