Missing a monthly payment on your credit card

You can catch up with your monthly credit card payments in the app. We don’t charge extra fees if you’re late.

We’ll give you 7 days from the date of your missed payment to catch up. It’s important to pay right away if you can, otherwise it’ll affect your credit score. And you won’t be able to use your credit card while you’re behind.

If you haven’t caught up within 7 days, we’ll try to take a smaller amount (your minimum payment) by switching 3, 6 or 12 monthly payments to 24 monthly payments at 29% APR representative (variable). There's more on this in our help article about interest rates on Monzo Credit Cards.

If we still can’t take the payment, we’ll let the credit reference agencies know that you’re behind.

Unless you’re on a monthly payment plan with 0% interest, we’ll still charge interest on your outstanding balance, minus the amount of your minimum payment, from your original payment date.

If you only pay the minimum each month, it’ll take you longer, and cost more, to pay off your balance.

For Flex customers

If we asked you for a deposit when you applied for Flex, you can use this to make your monthly payment. To do this:

  • Tap your Flex card

  • Tap “catch up on missed payment”

  • Choose if you would like to catch up on the missed payment or switch to minimum payment

  • Tap the toggle to use your deposit

Remember, if you use your deposit to make your monthly payment, you won’t be able to use Flex until you top up your deposit.
