Unlocking your Flex benefits
Unlocking your Flex benefits
Flex Build is a credit-builder card that gets better over time. From time to time we may offer you additional features to unlock with your Monzo Flex Build card. If you’re eligible we’ll show you the details of each unlock in your app.
If you haven’t got the benefit to unlock showing at the moment, we will not be able to enable this for you. The benefits to unlock are set based on multiple factors so remember to check back in the app as your eligibility may change for future unlocks!
What Flex Build benefits can I unlock?
If you keep making on-time monthly payments we could offer you:
Up to 2 limit increases in the first year.
Your Flex deposit back if we asked for one when you signed up
0% interest if you pay over 3 months for purchases of £100 or more.
We're continuing to develop the benefits we offer to unlock, so these may change in the future.
When you progress to further limit increases, we’ll run a soft credit check to see if you’re eligible for a higher limit. If we increase your limit we’ll report your new credit limit amount to the credit reference agencies, this may have an impact on your credit score.
If you’re not eligible, we’ll have only run a soft search, so there’ll be no impact to your credit score. You’ll still be able to keep your existing limit and the same interest rate.
How do I unlock Flex Build benefits?
In order to complete your unlocks, you’ll need to:
Make 3 monthly Flex repayments in a row by the date shown to you
Making sure you’re up to date with any other borrowing you have
Keep your deposit topped up if we asked you for one when you signed up
What happens if I miss a chance to unlock a Flex Build benefit?
Unfortunately if you do not meet all of the above, your opportunity to unlock the benefit will have expired. This will expire if you either miss a Flex repayment, fall behind on any other borrowing you have or if you have not topped up your deposit if you have one.
We won’t be able to reinstate this offer but you may have other opportunities to unlock this benefit in the future.
We’re here to help If you’re having money troubles or struggling with your repayments, it’s always best to get in touch with us so we can help.
You can also get free and impartial advice from various organisations in our Signposting Hub. And anything you tell them stays between the two of you.
If you’re not eligible, we’ll have only run a soft search, so there’ll be no impact to your credit score. You’ll still be able to keep your existing limit and the same interest rate.
If something doesn't look right about your credit score or summary, you can check the information TransUnion holds for you by clicking here. and filling out the report.
We can’t update the information regarding your credit score or summary ourselves.
Please bear in mind that changes can take up to a month to reflect in your report, so you won't see anything that has been updated recently.
If you miss a payment, you can catch up with your monthly Monzo Flex Credit Card payments in the app. We don't charge extra fees if you’re late. Not keeping up with payments may negatively impact your credit score. Ts&Cs apply.
We’ll give you 7 days from the date of your missed payment to catch up. It’s important to pay right away if you can, otherwise it’s likely to affect your credit score. You won’t be able to flex any new purchases while you’re behind.
If you haven’t caught up within 7 days, we’ll try to take a smaller amount (your minimum payment) by switching 3, 6 or 12 monthly payments to 24 monthly payments at your personalised interest rate here. There's more on this in our help article about interest rates on Flex
Missing repayments may impact your ability to unlock the limit increase. Unfortunately once the feature unlock has expired we won’t be able to reinstate this.
