Google Pay FAQs

Why the two options when adding your card to Google Pay?

You’re given the option to add to Google Pay and Google account or just to Google Pay

Having it added to both the Google Pay and account, just means that you’ll have a quicker checkout experience if a website accepts either Google Pay or not, as your card details can be autofilled

If you choose to just add it to Google Pay, that’s fine but you will need to manually type your card details into any site that doesn’t support Google Pay

What happens with card replacements?

When your card is replaced and activated on Monzo, this information will be updated on Google’s side as well 🎉 So no more scrambling to update card details when you get a new card or experiencing that feeling of a decline because a website has tried to take money from your inactive card

How can I opt out?

You can’t opt out on the Monzo app but you can via your Google Account This guide may help 😊

Under the section “Stop syncing payment info in Google Pay”

Are there limits with adding my card to Google Pay?

You can only remove and re-add your card 2 times every 24 hours and 3 times every 30 days. If you go over this limit and try again it won't work.
