Setting up Third Party Access to your account
Third Party Access refers to arrangements where a Monzo customer grants a trusted person the ability to manage their account and make financial decisions on their behalf. There are two broad categories of arrangements:
Formal Access Arrangements
Formal access is based on a legal document, like a Power of Attorney. This is a great option to plan ahead, whether is because of a serious health issue, a change in decision-making abilities or if you just need help managing your finances.
Informal Access Arrangements
Informal access is a type of arrangement between you, your trusted person and Monzo. They won't be able to make payments for you, but they can view and monitor your account in the app, and speak to us on your behalf.
Not sure which type of access is right for you?
If you aren’t sure what type of access might be right for you, you can read more about formal and informal account access on our blog.
There are a range of third-party options to consider, including Lasting Power of Attorney and Deputy Court Order. Citizens Advice has a lot of helpful information to help guide your decision. Each part of the UK has its own legal documents, so make sure you consider the rules where you live.
