Are my things covered outside of the home?

Monzo Contents Insurance policies include 'out of home cover,' which provides up to £1,000 for claims relating to damage or theft of your belongings that occur outside of your home during the policy year.

Please be aware that certain conditions apply with ‘out of home cover’. There’s more detail on exactly what you are and aren’t covered for in your policy document.

You can find and download your policy document in your app by following these instructions.

  • Go to the insurance section in your app and tap on your active policy.

  • Click ‘See documents’.

Please also note that your policy excess will be deducted from any successful claim. For instance, if you claimed for £500 worth of items stolen away from your property and your excess is £100, you would receive £400.

If you have a specific item worth between £1,000 and £10,000 that you would like to insure outside of the home, you should add it to your policy individually so that it is covered to its full value.

The high-value items (HVIs) you can add are:

  • Art

  • Bikes

  • Jewellery

  • Watches

  • Portable Electronics

  • Mobile phones

  • Camera/photography gear

When you add them, you’re also given the option to include ‘out of home cover’. This would mean the high-value item is covered for damage or theft up to its full value outside of your home anywhere in the British Isles.
