What is accidental damage insurance?
If you take out accidental damage cover as part of your home insurance policy, you’ll be covered for unintentional damage caused by unexpected events. This means events that couldn't have been predicted and weren't intended.
If you have buildings and contents insurance, you can choose to add accidental damage cover for your contents, your building or both.
Contents: You’ll be covered for accidental damage to your things such as glass breakage or spilling wine on a carpet.
Buildings: You’ll be covered for accidental damage to your home, including incidents like hammering a nail through a pipe or water damage to your building from taps left running.
