Who’s covered by my policy?
Your policy covers the things that belong to you. As well as your things, things belonging to your partner and family are also covered, as long as they live with you permanently.
However, if you rent with someone who is not on your policy, then only your things are covered. And if you own something together, like a sofa, then only your part of the cost of the sofa would be covered.
For buildings insurance, it’s the building itself that is covered rather than individuals.
