Using Flex on Apple Pay

To get started you'll need to add your Flex card to Apple Wallet, if you haven’t already. Here’s how to add your Flex card to Apple Wallet.

Using Apple Pay Instalments In-Store with Flex Apple Pay offers two ways to set up instalment plans for in-store purchases:

  1. Choose a Plan (Pre-Purchase): Set up your instalment plan before you make your purchase.

  2. Set Up After Purchase: Signal your intent to use instalments before your purchase, and then select a plan after the transaction is complete.

How to Use Instalments In-Store

Pre-Purchase Setup:

  1. Double-click the side button of your iPhone and select the card you want to use.

  2. Tap the payment selector, choose "Pay Later," then "Choose a Plan."

  3. Follow the prompts to select the plan that suits you best.

  4. Hold your iPhone near the reader to finalise your purchase.

Post-Purchase Setup:

  1. Double-click the side button of your iPhone and select your desired card.

  2. Tap the payment selector, choose "Pay Later," then "Set Up After Purchase."

  3. Hold your iPhone near the reader to complete your purchase.

  4. After your purchase, open Apple Wallet and select your card.

  5. Tap the transaction you wish to pay with instalments and choose your payment plan.

Editing or Cancelling a Pre-Purchase Plan:

If you've set up a pre-purchase plan, you can edit the purchase amount or change/cancel the plan before tapping your iPhone to the payment terminal:

  1. Tap "Choose a New Plan."

  2. Select a new offer if available. To cancel, tap "Cancel Plan."

  3. If you choose Pay in Full in Apple Pay, we’ll use your default payment

Your default payment could be to pay in full on your next payment date, minimum payment or choose each time.

All the flexibility you're used to

You'll still get all the benefits of your Flex card when you check out with Apple Pay. So you won't miss out on things like no fees when you pay abroad and your usual interest-free offers. If you already have Flex, you can see your personalised offer here.

You’ll be able to edit your monthly payment in the Monzo app after checking out.

You'll also still get Section 75 Protection on eligible purchases, so you might be able to get your money back if something goes wrong with a purchase.

You'll need the latest OS version to try this new Apple feature

You'll need iOS 26 or iPadOS 26 or later to use Apple Pay with Flex in store. You can update your iPhone or iPad to the latest operating system by going to Settings on your device.

You'll need iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 or later to use Apple Pay with Flex online.

Do I need to tell the cashier I'm using instalments?

No, you’ll be able to decide how to pay for a purchase before checking out. Once you’ve done this you’ll be able to tap your phone and use Apple Pay as normal.
