What you need to know
These legal terms relate to our Double Payday scheme and are between you and Monzo Bank Limited (Monzo/us/we) located at Broadwalk House, 5 Appold Street, London EC2A 2AG.
Double Payday
If you’re an eligible customer, we’ll automatically include your salary in a draw to have the chance to be doubled if it meets the payment eligibility criteria. If you opt out, we won’t include your salary in the draw. We explain more about eligibility below.
Double Payday started on 8 December 2025. It doesn’t have an end date, but we can change this at any time by giving you 30 days’ notice.
Eligible customers
You must have an active UK Monzo Current Account and be aged 18 or over.
This scheme isn't available for Monzo employees and folks who only have a Monzo Business Account.
Payment eligibility criteria
You must receive an eligible salary payment of between £300 and £20,000 a month, paid to you via Bacs or Faster Payment System, into your Monzo Current Account.
An eligible salary payment for the purposes of Double Payday is a:
salary payment paid to you by a business, employer or payroll provider; or
student finance payment from Student Loans Company, Student Finance England, Student Awards Agency Scotland, Student Finance Wales or Student Finance NI.
We won’t treat payments as an eligible salary if they don’t meet any of the requirements in these terms & conditions and/or they appear to be:
made by Clearing House Automated Payment System (CHAPS),
transfers between your own accounts,
payments from friends or family,
one-off gifts,
payments made for other purposes (for example rent, refunds, reimbursements or loans except student finance payments – see below on students), or
transfers from:
Child Benefit
Child Maintenance Service
Department for Work and Pensions (other than DWP Payroll, Personal Independence Payments and Disability Living Allowance payments)
Department for Work and Pensions Universal Credit
Deposit Protection Service.
HMRC (other than HMRC Payroll)
National Savings and Investments (NS&I)
Postcode Lottery
Social Security Scotland (other than Adult Disability Payments and Child Disability Payments)
the National Lottery (other than the National Lottery Payroll)
If we do identify an eligible salary or payroll payment sent by payers on this list we may include these, at our discretion, without further updating these terms. If you’re an employee of any of the above departments or companies and we haven’t included your payroll or salary, please chat with us in the app or email help@monzo.com. We’ll try to find a way to include you in the future. It won’t always be possible for us to identify eligible salary payments sent by payers on the excluded list.
We reserve the right to ask for proof of employment, such as a recent payslip or employment contract. This is to verify that a payment is a genuine, eligible salary.
Our decision on whether a payment qualifies as an eligible salary is final and we won’t respond to any questions about it.
Payment of your eligible salary
You must receive your eligible salary into your Monzo Current Account by the last day of the calendar month to be eligible for next month’s Double Payday draw. For example, if you get paid into Monzo in January, you’ll be eligible to win the Double Payday draw in February.
Multiple salaries
If you get paid multiple times a month, or receive multiple eligible salaries into one account in one month, you’ll still only be entered into the prize draw once. If selected, your first eligible salary payment of the following month will be doubled – not your monthly total.
If you receive an eligible salary paid into your personal account, and another eligible salary into a joint account, both will be entered into the prize draw.
Students
Payments from Student Loans Company, Student Finance England, Student Awards Agency Scotland, Student Finance Wales, and Student Finance NI qualify as an eligible salary payment for Double Payday.
If your eligible salary payment which gets you selected as a winner is made from any of the above student finance bodies, we'll double the eligible salary payment that got you selected on the first day of the following month.
We may also decide to treat payments from other student finance bodies as eligible payments for Double Payday in the future. If we do, it will be at our discretion and without further updating these terms.
How Double Payday works
Unless you opt out of Double Payday, one eligible salary paid into each of your Monzo personal or joint accounts will be entered into our draw and have the chance to be doubled.
We’ll double 10 customers’ eligible salary payments each month. Winning customers will be selected at random and each eligible salary will have an equal chance of being selected. We’ll only pay a maximum of £10,000 per month per winning customer. This means if you have a winning eligible salary payment of £11,000 in January, we’ll pay you £10,000 in February.
Winners are selected at random based on eligible salaried customers, and drawn on the first calendar day of every month. We'll always aim to run the draw on the first calendar day of every month. If there are technical issues, we’ll run it by the first working day of the month at the latest.
If you win, we’ll double the amount of the first eligible salary payment that actually reached your Monzo account. This means the amount paid in after tax, National Insurance, pension contributions and any other deductions, rather than your gross eligible salary before those deductions.
We may give winners the option of tapping into their next eligible salary transaction, or the Double Payday feature card to see if they have been selected as a winner. If they do so, we may pay the double salary amount instantly. Otherwise, winners will be paid one week after the end of the month in which the winner was selected.
If you’re a winner and opt out of Double Payday before the winning payment has been made, you’ll no longer be eligible for a double payment.
Questions?
If you receive a salary less frequently than on a monthly basis, and your salary would otherwise qualify as an eligible salary under this scheme, then please chat with us in the app or email help@monzo.com. We’ll try to find a way to include you in the future. If it is possible for us to do so, we may include your salary at our discretion, and without further updating these terms.
The small print (in regular size)
By getting your salary paid into your Monzo personal or joint account, we’ll assume that you’ve read and agreed to these terms. Just so you know, we can refuse to double your eligible salary if these terms have been breached. You won’t be eligible if we know or suspect you or your account is connected to suspicious or illegal activity.
You can’t exchange your Double Payday win for anything else. All our decisions on any aspect of Double Payday are final, binding and we won’t respond to queries about them.
We’ll end or temporarily withdraw Double Payday if we suspect any fraudulent, abusive or suspicious behaviour. We may also temporarily pause Double Payday if we identify an issue which impacts our ability to provide the draw as expected. If this happens, we’ll let you know. If any of these circumstances happen, we reserve the right to end or pause Double Payday without notice. Otherwise, we’ll give 30 days’ notice before closing Double Payday.
We can amend or add to these terms if necessary. If a change is unfavourable to you, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice.
We won’t be liable to pay any Double Payday amount if for any reason (including any error or omission in the coding, development, or implementation of the Double Payday scheme), the Double Payday draw works differently to how it has been set out in these terms. This includes any error which would make your chances of winning, or expected payout higher than it should be under the terms of this scheme. If we mistakenly categorise a transaction as ineligible it won’t be included in the draw, but once the error has been identified we will try to fix it for future draws.
We’re legally required to publish or make available information that indicates that a valid award took place. So we’ll share the surname and postcode area of winners to anyone who emails help@monzo.com within 30 days after the prize draw. You can object to your surname and postcode area being published or made available by emailing us at help@monzo.com. We’ll still need to share this information with the regulator, Advertising Standards Authority, on request. If the winner consents, we may publish their name and photograph for the purposes of publicity.
English law applies to Double Payday and these terms and English courts will settle any disputes.
