Who can open a Junior Stocks & Shares ISA?
Who can open a Junior Stocks & Shares ISA?
To open a Junior Stocks & Shares ISA for a child with Monzo, you’ll need to:
have a Monzo current account
be 18 or over
live in the UK and be a UK tax resident
have parental responsibility for the child, or be their legal guardian
Your child will also need to be under 16 when you open the account and meet the eligibility rules for a Junior ISA, including the relevant UK residency requirements.
What if my child already has a Junior ISA?
Your child can have a Junior Cash ISA and a Junior Stocks & Shares ISA at the same time. But they can only have one Junior Stocks & Shares ISA. So if they already have one with another provider, you’ll need to transfer it to Monzo rather than open another one. Learn more about transferring a Junior ISA to Monzo.
What if my child has a Child Trust Fund?
A Child Trust Fund is a long-term tax-free savings account for children born between 1 September 2002 and 2 January 2011. If your child has a Child Trust Fund (CTF), they can’t have a Junior ISA at the same time.
We don’t support transfers from Child Trust Funds to a Monzo Junior Stocks & Shares ISA at the moment. So you won’t be able to open one with us while your child has a Child Trust Fund.
