How do I lock and unlock an expense card?

Locking and unlocking expense card access

It might be necessary for a business account admin to lock an expense cardholder’s access to their expense card.

Team member won’t be able to spend or view spending If a team member has their expense card access locked, they won't be able to spend on their expense card or view their expense card overview in the app.

Admins can unlock their access at any time If the situation changes any you want to give that person access again, an account admin can unlock the team member’s access in the Monzo app at any time.

Freezing vs locking There are two main ways that an account admin or our Monzo support team can stop an expense card from working.

  1. Freezing

  2. Locking

A team member can defrost their expense card themselves if you freeze it, meaning it will work as normal again.

But if their expense card is locked only an admin or member of the Monzo support team can unlock it again. The team member can’t unlock access themselves.
