Connected bank accounts in Monzo
Get the full picture of your money when you connect your other UK bank accounts and credit cards to the Monzo app.
Who can use connected bank accounts?
Monzo customers can connect one external bank account or credit card for free.
Plus, Premium, Extra, Perks and Max customers can connect unlimited external bank accounts and credit cards included as part of your subscription plan. Savings accounts may be available, depending on whether your bank supports them through Open Banking.
What can I do with connected bank accounts?
Once you connect an external account, you can:
See your balance
View your transaction history
See your full financial picture across your accounts in Trends
Check your sort code and account number
Move money seamlessly with easy bank transfers
How does it work?
Connected bank accounts use Open Banking. When you connect an external bank account or credit card:
You’re redirected to your other bank
You log in securely with them
You choose which account(s) to add
Your bank then shares your transactions, balance and account details with Monzo
Important things to know
We won’t see any security details you use to log into your other bank
The information you see in Monzo comes from your other bank, so we can’t guarantee it’s accurate
For security reason, we’ll ask you every 90 days if you’d like to keep your account connected. You can renew access in just a few taps
You can remove access at any time
What information is shared?
Your bank may share:
Your connected account details such as account number and sort code
Your connected account balance
Details about transactions you make and receive
Your connected account card details
The exact information shared depends on your bank. We use secure encryption to protect your data. You can find more detail in our Privacy Notice.
How often does the information update?
Balances and transactions usually update automatically, but it depends on your bank. Some banks update instantly, while others may take longer. Pending transactions might not always be available, depending on what your bank shares.
Why do I need to renew every 90 days?
For security reasons, we'll ask you every 90 days if you'd like to continue seeing your connected bank account in Monzo.
If you confirm, you’ll keep seeing updated data.
If you don’t respond, Monzo will stop showing data from that account in the app, but you can add it again at any time You’ll see a prompt in the app when it’s time to renew.
How do I remove a connected bank account?
You can remove a connected bank account at any time. To remove an account:
Go to the Home screen
Tap the connected account card
Tap the three dots (…)
Select Remove account
Once removed:
We’ll stop receiving updated information from that bank.
Historic transactions already shared may still be visible in Monzo, in line with our Privacy Notice.
You can reconnect the same account later if you’d like to.
I can’t connect my bank, what should I do?
Sometimes another bank’s mobile app doesn’t complete the login process properly. If you’re having trouble:
Try uninstalling the other bank’s app temporarily.
Then reconnect the account in the Monzo app.
You’ll be directed to log in through the bank’s website instead.
Once connected, you can reinstall the other bank’s app. If you’re still having trouble, contact us in the app and we’ll help.

We’re working to add more banks over time. Only UK-based accounts that support Open Banking can be connected.
