Christmas is a joyful time, but it can sometimes be a stressful one. And while we can’t help you buy presents last minute, or deal with family tensions over turkey at the dinner table, we’ll be around to answer your questions, process your payments, and even help you pay in your cheques!

Here’s what you need to know about using Monzo over Christmas 🎄

Customer support

It's mostly business as usual for customer support over Christmas, so you can reach out at the regular hours if you have any queries.

Response times may be a little longer but, as always, we'll do everything we can to solve your problem as quickly as possible.

We’ll be available 24/7 over the holidays if you’ve already upgraded your account. And if you’re yet to upgrade, you can reach us between 9am - 6pm every day, with support for emergencies outside those hours.

Direct Debits, Direct Credits, and cheques won’t be processed on bank holidays, but will go through on the following working day instead. All other payments will be processed as normal.

Direct Credits are transfers made directly into your account, and are often used for paying salaries, employee expenses, pensions and refunds.

Christmas Day (Monday 25th December), Boxing Day (Tuesday 26th December) and New Year's Day (Monday 1st January 2018) are all bank holidays.

New and replacement cards

New Monzo cards typically arrive in seven days, but are likely to take a little longer over the holidays.

Whether you're a new user waiting for their first hot coral card, or you already use Monzo and you've ordered a replacement, rest assured they're on their way! 💳 💨


If you are sent any cheques over Christmas (lucky you!) you can pay them into your Monzo account.

Just write your Monzo account number clearly on the back of the cheque, in the top left corner. You can find your account number in the Account tab in your app.

Then all you need to do is send them to us at

You can expect cheques to be credited to your account five working days after we receive them.
