Adding a family member to an Under 16s account

Family members need to have a Monzo account. You can add someone you share a joint account with, but you don’t need to share a joint account to add someone as a family member.

To add a family member, the person you want to add will need to be findable by phone number. To check their settings, they’ll need to:

  • Go to Settings

  • Go to Privacy & security

  • Go to Profile privacy and then Phone number. Make sure it’s turned on.

To add a family member:

  • Go to the Under 16s account in your app.

  • Tap the 3 dots on their card.

  • Go to Manage account.

  • Under Helping with this account you’ll find Add a family member.

  • If you have multiple children, you’ll then be able to select which children the family member can help with.

  • If you share a joint account with someone, we’ll ask if you’d like to invite them. Want to invite someone else? Select No, invite someone else.

  • If you want to add someone you don’t share a joint account with, we’ll show you your Monzo contacts. You might need to Enable contacts if you haven’t already.

  • Follow the instructions to send them an invitation.

Can’t find the person you’re looking to invite? Make sure they’re findable by phone number first.
