We've said goodbye to our US customers
As of June 8, 2026, all Monzo US accounts have been closed.
If you had a Monzo US account, this page should help answer common questions about what happens next and how to get help if you need it.
What happened to the money that was left in my account?
If there was money in your account when it closed, we returned it in one of the following ways:
Transfer to a linked account If you had a recently used bank linked to your account, then we transferred your money to that account. That includes your remaining balance and any accrued interest.
Check If we weren’t able to transfer the money to a linked account, we sent any remaining balance over $1.00 to you by check using the email address we had on file. If you had a joint account, the check was issued to both account holders and sent to one account holder’s email address.
What should I do if I haven’t received my check?
We sent refund checks to the email address we had on file. These emails were sent through our partner, Checkbook.io, so the sender name may appear as “Checkbook.io.”
Please also check your Spam or Junk folders.

What should I do if I’m having trouble accessing my check?
If you received the email but are unable to access or deposit your check, please contact us at usa-help@monzo.com and we’ll help.
How can I access my bank statements?
If you need help accessing your statements, please email us at usa-help@monzo.com.
How will I receive my 2026 tax forms?
If you earned $10 or more in interest during the 2026 tax year, we’ll mail your 1099-INT tax form to the mailing address we had on file by the standard tax deadline in 2027.
If you need to update your mailing address or contact information, please contact us at usa-help@monzo.com by 31 December, 2026.
How can I report a suspicious transaction?
If you notice a transaction you don’t recognize, please contact us at usa-help@monzo.com. We’ll review the issue and help however we can.
Money was sent to my Monzo account after it closed. What happens now?
Any new deposits or transfers sent to your closed Monzo account will automatically be rejected and returned to the sender.
We recommend contacting the sender directly and providing an alternative bank account.
Will Monzo return to the US in the future?
We never say never! While we’re stepping back from the US for now to focus on the UK and Europe, we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us on the journey.
We learned a lot from our US community, and we'll be sure to share the news if we return in the future.
