A bank transfer I'm expecting hasn't arrived

Most bank transfers come through instantly, but some can take up to 24 hours (or longer on weekends) if the bank sending the money is running extra checks.

If you’re waiting for a transfer, ask the sender to check they entered the right account number and sort code.

If the sender used the wrong details

They need to contact their bank and ask them to recover the payment.

We can’t recover a payment sent to us if the details are wrong

Only the bank sending the money can do this.

If the sender used the right details but the payment hasn’t arrived

If the payment still hasn’t shown up after 24 hours, ask the sender to get the 18-digit Transaction Reference Number (TRN) or 36-digit Faster Payments ID (FPID) from their bank. Then send the TRN to us, so we can try to find the transfer.

You need to have the TRN or FPID before you contact us – we can’t find the transfer without it
