Sending United States Dollar (USD) payments

This guide is to help you with sending USD payments. It has all the information you need to know, including when you can usually expect it to arrive and what you can do if it doesn’t.

Can I send USD payments to a business?

Yes, you can send USD payments to an individual or a business.

Is the name I use on a payment checked?

Yes, although usually money is only returned if the name is completely different. It’s still really important that you use the correct account number. If the incorrect account number is used and it belongs to someone else, the payment will likely be returned.

What details do I need to use?

Sending inside the US

  • Recipient type (Person/Business)

  • Full recipient/business name (up to 18 characters)

  • ACH/Wire routing number

  • Account number (4 to 17 digits)

  • Account type (Checking/Savings)

  • Recipient country

  • Recipient address including ZIP code

  • Reference (optional, up to 10 characters)

Sending outside the US

  • Recipient type (Person/Business)

  • Full recipient/business name (up to 70 characters and A-Z only)

  • SWIFT code (8 to 11 characters)

  • IBAN/account number (5 to 31 digits)

  • Recipient country

  • Recipient address (for countries that don't use a postal/ZIP code, you can enter "99999")

  • Reference (optional, up to 35 characters)

How much money can I send?

Sending inside the US You can send up to US$1,000,000 per transfer.

Sending outside the US You can send up to US$1,600,000 per transfer.

How long will my payment take?

Sending inside the US Most payments arrive within 6 hours, and nearly all arrive within 1 working day.

In some cases, because of bank holidays or if there are any extra checks on the payment it can take up to 3 working days.

You can see how long we expect your payment to take before you send it in the app, and after you’ve sent it by tapping it in your feed.

Sending outside the US Most payments arrive within 2 working days, and nearly all arrive within 4 working days.

In some cases, because of bank holidays or if there are any extra checks on the payment it can take up to 6 working days.

You can see how long we expect your payment to take before you send it in the app, and after you’ve sent it by tapping it in your feed.

How will my payment be sent?

Sending inside the US We’ll send your payment as a local bank transfer through the ACH or Fedwire networks with partner banks in the United States, depending on what you tap when setting up the payee.

We only send payments through the Fedwire network if the recipient’s routing number can accept them.

Sending outside the US We’ll send your payment through the SWIFT network with partner banks in the United States.

When do I have to make a payment for it to be sent out on the same day?

Sending inside the US Payments must be made before 12:00 GMT for ACH transfers and 19:00 GMT for Wire transfers to go out on the same day.

Sending outside the US Payments must be made before 23:40 GMT to go out on the same day.

When do I have to make a payment for it to be sent out on the same day?

Sending inside the US Payments must be made before 14:15 GMT to go out on the same day.

Sending outside the US Payments must be made before 23:40 GMT to go out on the same day.

Can I recall a payment I made by mistake?

Sending inside the USYes, if you’ve used the wrong name/account number or it’s fraud

Sending outside the USYes, if you’ve used the wrong name/account number or if you think it’s fraud. Please let us know right away so we can help.

⏰ You need to wait 21 days before we can send the recall. If you think it’s fraud, we can send a recall straight away.

Other useful information

  • We can't send FFC (For Further Credit) payments. If FFC details are entered, the payment will either bounce back or get stuck with an intermediary bank.

  • You can only send SWIFT payments to countries outside of the US.
