Sending New Zealand Dollar (NZD) payments
This guide is to help you with sending NZD payments. It has all the information you need to know, including when you can usually expect it to arrive and what you can do if it doesn’t.
Can I send NZD payments to a business?
✅ Yes, you can send NZD payments to an individual or a business.
Is the name I use on a payment checked?
❌ No. As there are no name checks, it's really important that you use the correct account number. If the incorrect account number is used and it belongs to someone else, the payment will still go through.
What details do I need to use?
Recipient type (Person/Business)
Full recipient/business name (up to 20 characters, A-Z only)
Account number in the correct format BB-bbbb-AAAAAAA-(0)SS — BB = bank code, bbbb = branch code, AAAAAAA = 7 digit account number and (0)SS = 2-3 digit account type suffix with an optional 0 in front for 2 digit suffixes

How much money can I send?
You can send up to NZ$2,000,000 per transfer.
How long will my payment take?
Most payments arrive within 6 hours, and nearly all arrive within 1 working day.
In some cases, because of bank holidays or if there are any extra checks on the payment it can take up to 2 working days.
You can see how long we expect your payment to take before you send it in the app, and after you’ve sent it by tapping it in your feed.
How will my payment be sent?
We’ll send your payment as a local bank transfer through the Settlement Before Interchange (SBI) network with partner banks in New Zealand.
When do I have to make a payment for it to be sent out on the same day?
Payments must be made before 10:30 GMT to go out on the same day.
Can I recall a payment I made by mistake?
✅ Yes, you can recall a payment you made by mistake for any reason.
