Sending Mexican Peso (MXN) payments

This guide is to help you with sending MXN payments. It has all the information you need to know, including when you can usually expect it to arrive and what you can do if it doesn’t.

Can I send MXN payments to a business?

Yes, you can send MXN payments to an individual or a business.

Is the name I use on a payment checked?

No. As there are no name checks, it's really important that you use the correct account number. If the incorrect account number is used and it belongs to someone else, the payment will still go through.

What details do I need to use?

  • Recipient type (Person/Business)

  • Full recipient name (up to 40 characters, A-Z only)

  • Account number (CLABE, 18 digits)

  • Recipient country

  • Reference (optional, up to 40 characters)

How much money can I send?

You can send up to MX$17,700,000 per transfer.

How long will my payment take?

Most payments arrive within seconds, and nearly all arrive within 1 working day.

In some cases, because of bank holidays or if there are any extra checks on the payment it can take up to 2 working days.

You can see how long we expect your payment to take before you send it in the app, and after you’ve sent it by tapping it in your feed.

How will my payment be sent?

We’ll send your payment as a local bank transfer through the Sistema de Pagos Electrónicos Interbancarios (SPEI) network or through the SWIFT network with partner banks in Mexico.

If your payment is over MX$500,000, we might send it through SWIFT.

When do I have to make a payment for it to be sent out on the same day?

Payments must be made before 16:00 GMT to go out on the same day.

Can I recall a payment I made by mistake?

Yes, if you’ve used the wrong name/account number or if you think it’s fraud. Let us know right away so we can help.

  • You can check if a CLABE is right using an online validator.

  • We don’t support payments to BanCoppel (CLABE starts with 137), Caja Popular de Mexico (CLABE starts with 677) and Banco Azteca (CLABE starts with 653).
