Sending Moroccan Dirham (MAD) payments

This guide is to help you with sending MAD payments. It has all the information you need to know, including when you can usually expect it to arrive and what you can do if it doesn’t.

Can I send MAD payments to a business?

🟠 Yes, you can send MAD payments to an individual or business but you can’t send business payments to a charity or trust.

Is the name I use on a payment checked?

Yes. It’s really important that you use the correct account number. If the incorrect account number is used and it belongs to someone else, the payment will likely be returned.

What details do I need to use?

  • Recipient type (Person/Business)

  • Full recipient/business name (up to 35 characters, A-Z only)

  • Account number (RIB - relevé dʼidentité bancaire, 24 digits made up of bank code, city/branch code, account number and RIB key)

  • Recipient country

  • Reference (optional, up to 50 characters)

How much money can I send?

You can send up to 270,000 Dhs per transfer.

How long will my payment take?

Most payments arrive within 1 working day, and nearly all arrive within 2 working days.

In some cases, because of bank holidays or if there are any extra checks on the payment it can take up to 3 working days.

You can see how long we expect your payment to take before you send it in the app, and after you’ve sent it by tapping it in your feed.

How will my payment be sent?

We’ll send your payment as a local bank transfer through the Système Interbancaire Marocain de Télécompensation (SIMT) or Système des Règlements Bruts du Maroc (SRBM) networks with partner banks in Morocco.

If your payment is over 20,000 Dhs, we’ll send it through SRBM.

When do I have to make a payment for it to be sent out on the same day?

Payments must be made before 14:50 GMT to go out on the same day.

Can I recall a payment I made by mistake?

Yes, if you’ve used the wrong name/account number or if you think it’s fraud. Let us know right away so we can help.

⏰ We can send the recall immediately.

Other useful information

  • References are sent to the recipient via email and are only forwarded once. If a transfer bounces back, the reference won’t be forwarded again.

  • Some banks in Morocco charge receiving fees. Al Barid, Attijariwafa, BMCE, BMCI, Crédit du Maroc and Société Générale Maroc may charge a receiving fee of up to 20 Dhs.
