Sending South Korean Won (KRW) payments
This guide is to help you with sending KRW payments. It has all the information you need to know, including when you can usually expect it to arrive and what you can do if it doesn’t.
Can I send KRW payments to a business?
✅ Yes, you can send KRW payments to an individual or a business.
Is the name I use on a payment checked?
✅ Yes. It’s really important that you use the correct account number. If the incorrect account number is used and it belongs to someone else, the payment will likely be returned.
What details do I need to use?
If you’re sending via PayGate
Recipient type (Person)
Full recipient name (up to 256 characters)
Recipient date of birth (has to match with bank records)
Bank name
Account number (11 to 16 digits, KRW accounts only)
Recipient phone number
Recipient country
Reference (optional, up to 35 characters)
If you’re sending via PayGate to business
Recipient type (Business)
Name of the business/organisation
Bank name
Account number (11 to 16 digits, KRW accounts only)
Recipient country
Reference (optional, up to 35 characters)
How much money can I send?
You can send up to ₩5,000,000 per transfer and ₩70,000,000 per year for personal accounts.
You can send up to ₩999,999,999 per transfer for business accounts.
How long will my payment take?
Most payments arrive within 1 hour, and nearly all arrive within 6 hours.
In some cases, because of bank holidays or if there are any extra checks on the payment it can take up to 1 working day.
You can see how long we expect your payment to take before you send it in the app, and after you’ve sent it by tapping it in your feed.
How will my payment be sent?
We’ll send your payment as a local bank transfer through the Korea Financial Telecommunications & Clearings Institute (KFTC) network with partner banks in South Korea.
When do I have to make a payment for it to be sent out on the same day?
There is no cut off time. Any payment you make will go out on the same day you send it.
Can I recall a payment I made by mistake?
✅ Yes, if you’ve used the wrong name/account number or if you think it’s fraud. Let us know right away so we can help.
