Sending Indian Rupee (INR) payments
This guide is to help you with sending INR payments. It has all the information you need to know, including when you can usually expect it to arrive and what you can do if it doesn’t.
Can I send INR payments to a business?
🟠 Yes, you can send INR payments to an individual or business but you can’t send business payments to a charity or trust.
Is the name I use on a payment checked?
✅ Yes. It’s really important that you use the correct account number. If the incorrect account number is used and it belongs to someone else, the payment will likely be returned.
What details do I need to use?
If you’re sending via Local bank account
Recipient type (Person/Business)
Full recipient/business name (A-Z only)
IFSC code (4 letters followed by numbers/letters)
Account number (5 to 20 digits)
Recipient country
Reference (optional, up to 16 characters)

If you’re sending via Unified Payments Interface (UPI)
Recipient type (Person/Business)

How much money can I send?
If you're sending via Local bank account You can send up to ₹100,000,000 per transfer for personal accounts and ₹1,500,000 INR per transfer for business accounts.
If you’re sending via Unified Payments Interface (UPI) You can send up to ₹200,000 per transfer.
How long will my payment take?
Most payments arrive within seconds, and nearly all arrive within 1 working day.
In some cases, because of bank holidays or if there are any extra checks on the payment it can take up to 2 working days.

How will my payment be sent?
We’ll send your payment as a local bank transfer with partner banks in India. If you use a UPI ID, we’ll send the payment through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) network.
If you use bank account details, we’ll use the Immediate Payment Service (IMPS), Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) or National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT) networks.
For payments made with bank account details, if your payment is under ₹500,000 we’ll use IMPS. If it’s over ₹500,000, we’ll use RTGS. If we can’t use either of those for any reason, we’ll send through the NEFT network instead.
When do I have to make a payment for it to be sent out on the same day?
If you're sending via Local bank account Payments must be made before 11:00 GMT to go out on the same day.
If you’re sending via Unified Payments Interface (UPI) There is no cut off time. Any payment you make will go out on the same day you send it.
Can I recall a payment I made by mistake?
✅ Yes, but only if you think it’s fraud. Let us know right away so we can help.

You can’t send an INR payment as a salary payment.
