Sending Brazilian Real (BRL) payments

This guide is to help you with sending BRL payments. It has all the information you need to know, including when you can usually expect it to arrive and what you can do if it doesn’t.

Can I send BRL payments to a business?

🟠 Yes, you can send BRL payments to an individual or business but you can’t send business payments to a charity or trust. You also can’t send payments to businesses through PIX.

Is the name I use on a payment checked?

Yes, checks are made in Receita Federal. Their tax ID has to be “regular” and has to match up with their name. It’s really important that you use the correct account number. If the incorrect account number is used and it belongs to someone else, the payment will likely be returned.

What details do I need to use?

If you’re sending via Pix

  • Recipient type (Person)

  • Recipient full name (up to 35 characters, A-Z only)

  • CPF (Tax ID)

  • Bank name

  • Branch code (4 to 5 characters)

  • Account number (4 to 12 characters)

  • Account type

  • Recipient email

  • Recipient country

  • Purpose of transfer

  • Reference

If you’re sending via TED

  • Recipient type (Person/Business)

  • Recipient full name (up to 35 characters, A-Z only)

  • CPF (Tax ID)

  • Bank name

  • Branch code (4 to 5 characters)

How much money can I send?

If you’re sending via Pix If you’re sending from a personal account, you can send up to R$250,000 per transfer to other individuals or R$50,000 per transfer to businesses.

If you’re sending from a business account, you can send up to R$50,000 per transfer to individuals or R$250,000 to other businesses.

If you’re sending via TED You can send up to R$25,000 per transfer.

How long will my payment take?

Most payments arrive within seconds, and nearly all arrive within 12 hours.

In some cases, because of bank holidays or if there are any extra checks on the payment it can take up to 1 working day.

You can see how long we expect your payment to take before you send it in the app, and after you’ve sent it by tapping it in your feed.

How will my payment be sent?

We’ll send your payment as a local bank transfer through either the Pix or Transferência Eletrônica Disponível (TED) networks with partner banks in Brazil.

If the recipient’s Tax ID is a Pix code or if we can find one, we’ll send the payment through Pix.

If we can’t send through Pix, or if the recipient has often rejected Pix payments, we’ll send it through TED. This can happen with businesses sometimes.

When do I have to make a payment for it to be sent out on the same day?

If you’re sending via Pix There is no cut off time. Any payment you make will go out on the same day you send it.

If you’re sending via TED Payments must be made before 17:20 GMT to go out on the same day.

Can I recall a payment I made by mistake?

No. You can’t recall an BRL payment you’ve made by mistake under any circumstances.
