Sending Australian Dollar (AUD) payments
This guide is to help you with sending AUD payments. It has all the information you need to know, including when you can usually expect it to arrive and what you can do if it doesn’t.
Can I send AUD payments to a business?
✅ Yes, you can send AUD payments to an individual or a business.
Is the name I use on a payment checked?
❌ No. As there are no name checks, it's really important that you use the correct account number. If the incorrect account number is used and it belongs to someone else, the payment will still go through.
What details do I need to use?
Recipient type (Person or business)
Full recipient name (up to 35 characters and A-Z only)
BSB code (6 digits)
Account number (4 to 9 digits)
Recipient country
Reference (optional, up to 18 characters)
How much money can I send?
You can send up to AU$1,500,000 per transfer.
How long will my payment take?
Most payments arrive within seconds, and nearly all arrive within 1 working day.
In some cases, because of bank holidays or if there are any extra checks on the payment it can take up to 2 working days.
You can see how long we expect your payment to take before you send it in the app, and after you’ve sent it by tapping it in your feed.
How will my payment be sent?
We’ll send your payment as a local bank transfer through the New Payments Platform (NPP) or Bulk Electronic Clearing System (BECS) or Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) networks with partner banks in Australia.
We’ll only use BECS if the recipient can’t receive the payment through NPP and RTGS if the amount is over AU$1,000,000.
When do I have to make a payment for it to be sent out on the same day?
There’s no cut off time. Any payment you make will be made on the same day you send it.
Can I recall a payment I made by mistake?
✅ Yes, if you’ve used the wrong name or account number or if you think it’s fraud. Let us know right away so we can help.
⏰ You need to wait 14 days after a payment is sent before we can send the recall.
