Joining Monzo Mobile

Monzo Mobile plans run on a monthly rolling basis, so there's no long contract, no minimum term and no exit fees. You can change or cancel whenever you like in the app, and you'll pay for your plan from your Monzo account.

Here's what you need to join:

  • A Monzo personal account. Monzo Mobile is only for Monzo personal account holders, and you need to be 18 or over and living in the UK. Because your plan is tied to your banking security, you can only take out a plan for yourself, not for family or friends.

  • An eSIM-compatible phone. Monzo Mobile is eSIM only, so there's no plastic SIM to post or insert. You download your SIM to your phone instead, and we'll check your phone supports one when you sign up.

  • An unlocked phone. If you bought your phone outright it's probably already unlocked. If you're partway through a contract with your current provider, your phone might be locked to them, and you won't be able to activate a Monzo eSIM until it's unlocked. UK providers have to unlock your phone for free once your contract's finished, so message or call your current provider and ask them to do this before you start.
