Check if your phone is eSIM compatible
Monzo Mobile uses an eSIM, a digital SIM built into your phone, so there's no physical SIM to insert. Your phone needs to support eSIM and be unlocked to any network. Here's how to check.
Which phones work
Most phones released from around 2018 onwards support eSIM, including:
iPhone: iPhone XS, XR and every model since.
Samsung Galaxy: S20 and later, plus recent Z Fold, Z Flip and Note models.
Google Pixel: Pixel 3 and later (some early Pixel 3 models are the exception). If your phone isn't listed, it may still work. Use the check below to be sure.
Which phones don't work
Some phones can't use an eSIM because of where they were bought:
iPhones from mainland China.
iPhones from Hong Kong and Macao (except the iPhone 13 Mini, 12 Mini, SE 2020 and XS).
If you have an iPhone bought in Turkey, eSIM support depends on when the device was first set up. Chat to us in the app and we'll help you check.
How to check your phone
The quickest way is to dial *#06# on your phone's keypad. If you see an EID number, your phone supports eSIM.
You can also check in your settings:
iPhone: Settings > General > About, look for an Available SIM or EID entry.
Android: Settings > About phone (or Connections > SIM manager), look for an EID. If there's no EID, your phone doesn't support eSIM.
