What is an excess?
An insurance excess is the amount you have to pay towards the cost of an insurance claim.
If you're receiving a cash settlement, you don't need to pay this upfront and the amount will be taken off your settlement payment.
If we're organising the repairs or replacements on your behalf, you may need to pay the excess directly to the tradespeople/suppliers. If this is the case, we'll let you know the next steps when we update you about the outcome of your claim.
