The differences between Summary and Trends

On 21st December 2025, we’re sunsetting Summary. In Trends you’ll find simpler, smarter ways to understand your spending habits.

What are the differences between Summary and Trends?

There are a few things you could do in Summary that you won’t be able to do in Trends, but for the most part, Trends will give you more control and flexibility.

Summary could only show you one account at a time and you couldn’t view accounts outside Monzo. With Trends you can now incorporate personal, joint and connected accounts for a full view of your budget and spending.

Here’s what you can do in each Trends tab:

Trends Balance tab:

  • See a more detailed running account balance over time.

  • See time period specific insights, like your total money in and out.

  • See an estimate of what you’ve got left to spend, based on any upcoming payments.

Trends Spending tab:

  • See monthly and yearly overviews of all your spending, split by category or merchant.

  • With Plus, Premium, Extra, Perks and Max you can add custom categories for extra detail.

Trends Target tab:

  • See a more accurate ‘left to spend’ figure. It’s now calculated as your balance minus any upcoming scheduled payments and included spending categories.

  • See a clear, interactive graph to show how you’re doing against your spending goal (rather than just a single dial).

With Trends you’ll no longer be able to:

  • Set spend/pay periods on a weekly or 4 weekly basis

  • Exclude individual transactions that are not in a category (but you can still exclude transactions!)
