Why have I received an email about a refund from my closed account?
If you’ve got an email telling you that you’ve got a refund, it’s likely you’ve got some money in your old Monzo account.
To get your money back, you’ll need to log in and verify your identity by recording a short video and taking a photo of your ID.
Once we’ve checked that it's really you, you can give us the details of another UK account you’d like us to forward the money to.
If you do this in the app, the money should arrive straight away, but it can take up to 2 hours.
We’ll also add 8% interest from the date we originally got the money.
If you’re having trouble downloading the app, logging in or verifying your identity, email us at remainingbalance@monzo.com with this info:
Your name The phone number on your old account The email address on your old account The account number, if you know it A photo of yourself holding your ID, so we know it’s really you.
Then we’ll try to get the money sent over to you within 7 working days for UK accounts (2-3 weeks for international).
Want to know more? You’ll find all the info in our terms and conditions.
