What are the spending limits for accounts?

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 For current and joint accounts

ℹ️ The limits that apply to you are shared across your personal accounts. This means you can withdraw £400 via an ATM from either your personal account, your joint account or a mix of the two but you cannot withdraw £400 from both.

💳 Using your card

You can spend up to £10,000 per day on your card.

If you use Contactless, you can tap your card to spend up to £100 with each transaction. Sometimes we may ask you to use Chip & PIN instead before you can pay with Contactless again.

✅ This limit applies to

  • Payments that you make with your card both in-person and online, except for ATM withdrawals

❌ This limit doesn't apply to

  • Faster Payments (bank transfers made in the app)

  • Direct Debits

  • CHAPS payments

  • International payments (SWIFT or SEPA)

  • ATM withdrawals

  • Monzo.me or payments to Monzo contacts

  • Cash deposits

🏧 Withdrawing money from an ATM

You might need to pay a 3% fee if you withdraw more than £400 in a single 30-day period, depending on your allowances. You can check those in the app by tapping the three dots under your account balance and then Fees and allowances.

If you're a sole trader

  • You can send a bank transfer up to £25,000 per day from your Monzo account to other banks
