Why is my pension transfer taking so long?

Transferring a pension involves a bit of behind-the-scenes work, so it can take up to 6 months—though it's usually much faster.

We'll keep in touch with your old provider throughout the process to keep things moving, and we'll ping you in the app as soon as there's an update.

Why your transfer might be taking longer

  • We're waiting on details from you: Check your app notifications to see if we've asked for any extra info or actions. We can't move forward without your reply, so responding quickly helps us speed things up.

  • Your old provider needs to speak to you: Providers have a duty of care to protect your money, so they might need you to answer a few security questions or fill out a form.

  • Your contact details are outdated: If your old provider can't reach you, your transfer will pause. Make sure your email, phone number, and address are up to date with them.

Pro tip: If you haven't heard anything and your details are correct, the quickest way to get things moving is to reach out to your old provider directly.
