We’re launching in-app charity donations 💚

We know donating to charitable causes is very important to our customers, and donating directly to charities directly from our app has long been a requested feature.

So now you can. Donate directly to one of our 8 chosen charities either with a one-off payment or on a regular basis. Find the list of charities in the Payments tab in the app, or the ‘Donate to charity’ button on your home screen. Any donations you make will show in the ‘Charity’ category of Trends, and recurring donations will show in your upcoming scheduled payments.

Of course there’s no minimum amount to donate, and no pressure at all to support one of these charities if you’re not in a position to.

100% of your donation goes to your chosen charity 🎁

We don’t earn anything or take any fees from your donations. Unfortunately we can’t add Gift Aid at the moment, so we’ve given you the option to donate directly through each charity’s website and add Gift Aid as well.

For launch, we’ve picked charities that support a range of great causes

We chose them to represent the causes which Monzo customers donate to most, and to align with our values as a business.

This list may grow or change over time. We’re currently speaking to more great charities and we’d love to hear your suggestions for who we should consider via the feedback link at the bottom of the charities page in the app.

The current list of charities in their own words (as of June 30 2022).

  • Trussell Trust: together with its network of food banks, provides emergency food and vital support to communities across the UK.

  • GiveDirectly: lets donors like you send money directly to the world’s poorest households.

  • Muslim Hands: Since 1993 Muslim Hands has been dedicated to helping those affected by poverty, conflict and natural disasters worldwide.

  • MyBnk: delivers expert-led financial education programmes to 5-25 year olds in UK schools and youth organisations.

  • Sickle Cell Society: supports and represents people affected by a sickle cell disorder.

  • Stonewall Housing: supports LGBTQ+ people in the UK who are facing or experiencing homelessness.

  • Surviving Economic Abuse: saves lives and aims to stop financial abuse forever.

  • Teenage Cancer Trust: the only UK charity dedicated to providing specialist care for young people with cancer.

You can still support other charities through Monzo

If you’re already supporting other charities through payments from your Monzo account, you of course still can. Some customers have set up recurring charity payments directly from a Pot – you can find out how to set that up here.
