Paying someone whose account number doesn’t match an account

When you make a bank transfer with Monzo, we check that the account holder name you type in matches the name on the account. This name-checking service is called ‘Confirmation of Payee’, and it’s a way to make sure you’re paying the right person.

If the account number you typed in doesn’t match any account, you might have typed the details incorrectly, or the person you’re trying to pay might have closed that account. Try contacting the person you’re trying to pay to get the correct details.
