Moving your eSIM to a new phone

Got a new phone? Your eSIM just needs setting up on the new phone, and there's nothing to post or swap.

Before you start, have both phones with you if you can, connect them to Wi-Fi, and check your new phone supports eSIM.

There are two ways to move your eSIM, depending on your phone.

If your phone can move it for you

Many newer phones can move an eSIM across when you set them up. Apple calls this eSIM Quick Transfer, and some Android phones offer something similar. If your new phone offers this during setup, follow the steps on screen. This happens on your phone, not in the Monzo app.

If it doesn't, we'll do it for you

If your phone doesn't offer a transfer, or you no longer have your old phone, chat to us in the app and we'll set your eSIM up on the new phone.

Keep using your old phone until your new eSIM is working. Don't delete your current eSIM yourself, or you'll lose signal before the new one is ready.

What stays the same

Nothing about your plan changes: same number, same allowance, same price, same billing date. Once your new eSIM is active, the one on your old phone stops working.

Your new phone should show signal within a few minutes. If you're still struggling to get connected after a few minutes, turn airplane mode on and off, or restart your phone.

Still nothing? Chat to us in the app and we'll help.
