What does my international payment status mean?

You can check on the status of an international transfer sent through Wise by tapping on the payment in your Monzo feed.

Remember: sometimes there’s a delay to the payment’s status, so it might not be up-to-the-minute info.

Here’s what all the different statuses mean:

Waiting

We’ve sent a Faster Payment to Wise for the amount of British pounds you’re sending. Now, we’re waiting for them to confirm it’s reached them.

Waiting for recipient

Wise is waiting for the recipient to confirm some info before they can process the payment.

Processing

Wise is processing the British pounds payment on their end.

Converting

Wise has converted the British pounds payment into the recipient’s currency.

Sent

Wise has sent the payment to the recipient. How long it takes to get there depends on where it’s going and what currency it’s in. But you can get an estimated date for when your payment should arrive.

Charged back

Wise has recalled the payment.

Cancelled

This means we never sent the payment to Wise so no money will have left your account. If you still want to send the payment, you’ll need to set it up again.

Cancelled, refunding

Wise couldn’t complete the payment so you’ll get a full refund. How long this takes will depend on a few things – like whether Wise had sent the already payment and what currency they used.

If you haven’t had your refund after 1 week, get in touch and we’ll see how we can help.

Refunded

The money’s back in your Monzo account.

Bounced back

The transfer’s bounced back but Wise hasn’t refunded or cancelled it yet. If this hasn’t changed in 48 hours, get in touch and we’ll see how we can help.

Unknown

Wise is still waiting for some important info, so nothing’s changed with your payment yet.

If you want to find out more about your payment status

You can email Wise at monzo@wise.com. You’ll need your payment transfer ID – chat to us in the app and we’ll give you this number.
