Flex on Apple Pay: Now it's even easier to pay your way

Exciting news! iPhone users can choose their monthly payment plan right at checkout with Flex on Apple Pay. Available online, in-app and now in-store 🎉

We’re excited to be one of the first UK banks to offer this new feature.

Here’s how it works

First you’ll need to add your Flex card to Apple Wallet if you haven’t already, then:

  1. When shopping online or in apps, tap the Apple Pay button at checkout. When shopping in-store, double-click the side button of your iPhone.

  2. Select your Flex card to see your payment options. If Flex isn't your default card, go to Other Cards & Pay Later Options to select it.

  3. Tap Pay in Full to check out using your Flex default setting, or tap Pay Later to choose a payment plan that works for you.

  4. Complete your purchase securely with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. If you’re checking out in-store, hold your phone near the card reader to finish paying.

If you choose Pay in Full in Apple Pay, we’ll use your default payment setting.

You can edit your payment plan in the Monzo app before your payment cycle closes, or change your default setting any time in the app.

Plan for your purchases

With the latest version of iOS, you can also now calculate and pre-select your monthly payments before you make a purchase in-store.

We’ll automatically apply your chosen plan at checkout when you pay before midnight the same day, with Flex on Apple Pay. No more last minute maths at the till.

Flex Purchase Representative example: 29% APR representative (variable). £1200 credit limit. 29% yearly interest (variable).

Privacy and security built in

Apple Pay uses the security and privacy features built into your Apple devices, including Face ID and Touch ID. They’re designed so only you can make purchases with your Flex card.

All the flexibility you’re used to

You'll still get all the benefits of your Flex card when you check out with Apple Pay. So you won’t miss out on benefits like no fees when you pay abroad (Mastercard’s exchange rate applies) and your usual interest-free offers. You’ll also still get Section 75 Protection on eligible purchases. It means you might be able to get your money back if something goes wrong.

You’ll need the latest iOS version to try the new feature

You’ll need iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 or later to use Flex on Apple Pay in-app or online, and iOS 26.1 to use it in-store. You can update your iPhone or iPad to the latest operating system by going to Settings on your device.

If you’re interested in Flex, you can see if you’re eligible with no impact to your credit score

You’ll need a Monzo current account to apply for Flex. Eligibility criteria and Ts&Cs apply. UK residents & 18+ years olds only. Missed payments may negatively impact credit scores. Find out more on the Flex webpage.
