Safety features for children
You can customise your Under 16s account with safety features – whether they’ve used a card before or they’re just getting started with spending.
Set a spending limit
Set a maximum daily spending limit to help your child budget their money.
Their maximum daily spending limit will include money spent online and in shops, as well as cash withdrawals at ATMs.
To set a spending limit:
Go to your Under 16s account in your app.
Tap the 3 dots on their card.
Go to Spending limits.
If your child has the app they’ll be able to see their spending limit, but they won’t be able to change it.
Customise spending methods
You can use controls to customise the spending methods your child can use.
You can turn the following account features on or off:
Online payments.
Contactless payments.
Cash withdrawals.
To customise their spending methods:
Go to your Under 16s account in your app.
Tap the 3 dots on their card.
Go to Spending limits.
Freeze card
No need to panic if your child loses their card. Your child can freeze their card if they have the app, or you can do it for them.
To freeze their card:
Go to your Under 16s account in your app.
Tap Card.
Tap Freeze card.
Tap to defrost if it turns up, and it will work again as normal.
