Bank transfer from another account

Head to your Home tab and tap the ‘Add money’ button under your Monzo card (If you can't see the button, swipe down on the transactions drawer to reveal it), then tap "Bank Transfer". Make a note of your account number and sort code, then set up your Monzo account as a payee with your other bank.

Bank transfers should arrive in your account instantly, but can sometimes take longer.

Deposit cash at a PayPoint location

If you'd like to pay cash into your Monzo account, you can deposit cash at any of PayPoints 28,000 locations across the UK!

To deposit cash, follow these steps:

  1. Find a shop displaying the PayPoint logo
  2. Tell the shopkeeper you’d like to add money to your card, and how much
  3. Hand over your card and the cash
  4. The shopkeep will swipe your card and will return it to you with a receipt

We pass on a £1 fee for making the deposit to help us cover the costs of the service.

For example, if you deposit £10 then £9 will be added to your account around 10 minutes later. If you deposit £100, we'll add £99.

You can deposit between £5-300 in one go. And you can pay in a maximum of £1,000 every six months.

If you’re 16-17 years old, that limit is lower, so you can only deposit a maximum of £500 every six months.


You can pay in cheques, but unfortunately you can't write them since we don't have cheque books. To pay in a cheque, tap the Add money button on your Account tab, or the button on this help page.

Your cheque can take up to 5-7 working days to reach us. Once we’ve received the cheque, it will take up to a week to be processed.
