Sending transfers in the UK
You can transfer money to anyone with a UK bank account. You’ll just need their name, sort code and account number. Transfers usually happen instantly, but they can sometimes take up to 24 hours.
Tap the Payments icon in the menu bar
Tap Pay someone
Tap Make a bank transfer and fill in the details
Receiving transfers in the UK
Anyone with a UK bank account can send you money too. You'll need to give them your account details — name, account number and sort code to them.
You can share your account details by tapping the ... icon below your balance and Share details. From there you can share straight to another app (like WhatsApp) or you can simply copy the details.
If the person trying to send you money has a Monzo account, you can request money from them in the app.
To do this:
Tap the Payments icon in the menu bar
Tap Request
Tap the name of the person you want to request money from
Type in the amount you want to request
Type in what you're requesting money for
If they don't have a Monzo account, you can share a link with them so they can pay you instead without needing to give them your account details. This feature is called Monzo.me.
Sending international transfers
You can send international transfers in your Monzo app. You can send 5 currencies without needing a Wise account, but for any other currencies when you use the feature for the first time you’ll need to give us permission to use your Wise account. If you don’t have a Wise account, we’ll create one for you when you send the money. You need to be 18 or over to send international payments.
The following currencies you can send from your Monzo app without needing a Wise account:
EUR (Euros)
USD (United States Dollars)
INR (Indian Rupees)
AUD (Australian Dollars)
RON (Romanian Lev)
You can't send GBP (Great British Pounds) internationally from your Monzo account.
