We’re so pleased you’d like to apply for a Monzo Business account!

Before starting your application, find out which businesses and industries we can and can’t support right now here – it should only take a few minutes. Meeting the eligibility criteria doesn’t guarantee that you’ll get an account.

Step 1: Start the application

If you have a personal or joint Monzo account already. You can apply from your personal account in the Monzo app! Tap on Home, scroll all the way down to ‘Do more with Monzo’, then tap ‘Apply for a Business account’

If you don’t have a personal or joint Monzo account, to get started, download the Monzo app on your phone. We’ll ask for your email, and what kind of account you’d like to apply for – that’s where you choose our Business account.

So you know, you have to use the same email address and phone number for any existing or future accounts you have with Monzo.

Step 2: Tell us about your business

We'll ask you for some basic information about your business, like what type of business it is, the industry you’re in, and your business address. If you’re a limited company, we’ll fill in this information for you directly from Companies House.

Step 3: Tell us how your business operates

We’ll ask for some additional information to help us give you a more personalised service and meet our regulatory obligations. This information includes the rough size of your business (like how much money you expect to make each year), how you expect to make and receive payments, and your international presence. We’ll also ask you for your UK Tax Identification Number.

Step 4: Help us confirm your identity

Because we’re a regulated bank, we have to verify all our customers’ identities.

If you’re a limited company, we’ll also verify any people with significant control in your business when you sign up. You can check who the people with significant control in your business are at Companies House.

You'll either need their identification to hand or they’ll need a personal account with us we can verify as part of your application. You can find more information on how we verify people with significant control here.

Step 5: Pick an account that suits your needs

We offer two accounts: Monzo Business Pro (£5 a month) and Monzo Business Lite. Pick an account that works for you.

Step 6: Activate your card once it arrives

Once we’ve verified your account, we’ll put your new business debit card in the post to the business trading address you signed up with. It should arrive in a couple of days.

When your card arrives, activate it by entering your card number in the app (or taking a photo of your card).

You’re all set!

If we approve your business account, you can switch everything in your old bank to Monzo in a matter of days. With the Current Account Switch Service, we’ll move all your money and payments (like Direct Debits and standing orders) and close down your old account for you.
