Questions? Answers.
Can I accept card payments without a card machine with Monzo Business?
Yes. You can accept contactless payments anywhere with just your smartphone, using Tap to Pay. We’ve partnered with Stripe to make this happen, so all you need is a compatible iPhone or Android device (and mobile data or wifi connection). Monzo won’t charge you fees for accepting card payments, but Stripe's fees and Ts&Cs apply.
Does Monzo automatically set aside tax from the payments I receive?
If you create a Tax Pot and choose how much you’d like to save, we’ll set that amount aside every time you’re paid. So you don’t have to worry about a last minute scramble to pay your tax bill. You can add and take money out of your Tax Pot any time. Tax Pots come with Monzo Business Pro and Team, starting from £9 a month. Ts&Cs apply.
Can I receive international payments into my Monzo Business Account?
Yes. Use your account’s international bank account number (IBAN) to get payments from other countries or in other currencies.
We won’t charge you anything for international payments that have already been converted to British pounds. If you receive payments in euros, we’ll charge a 1% currency conversion fee (capped at £1,000) and then convert it into pounds.
To receive a payment in a foreign currency that isn’t GBP or EUR, we’ll charge a 1% currency conversion fee (capped at £1,000) and then we’ll convert it into pounds before the money appears in your account. You can see an overview of all our fees here.
How much does it cost to accept payments?
Getting paid by bank transfer, magic link, QR code or Tap to Pay is all free – we won’t charge you a fee. For international payments, if a payment arrives in your account in a different currency, we'll use a third party to convert foreign currency, and they set the exchange rate. You'll see the rate used in the transaction details after receiving the payment. We'll also charge you a 1% fee for the conversion. We won’t charge you more than £1,000 per transaction on payments we convert. So if, for example, you get a payment worth £100 in a different currency, we’ll take a £1 fee to convert it.
