Opening a Monzo personal account
Opening a Monzo account is simple and should take less than 10 minutes once you have the app.
Here's what you need to do:
Get your ID ready: You’ll need a valid, unexpired photo ID. We accept a passport, driving licence (including a provisional) or National ID card. You must be at least 16 years old. To open an Irish account, you’ll need an Irish address and we may ask for documents to confirm your link to that address.
The legal name on your account needs to match your ID exactly, but we can change your name using a marriage certificate or deed poll after your signup is complete.
Download the Monzo app: Search for "Monzo" in the App Store or Google Play Store and download it to your phone.
Tell Us About Yourself: When you open the app, we'll ask for some basic information like your home address, email, and phone number. We'll also ask a few questions about your occupation and how you plan to use your account.
Confirm Your Identity: We'll ask you to take a photo of your ID and record a short selfie video to confirm your identity.
Choose Your Account: Browse the different account options we offer and choose the one that's right for you.
Activate Your Card: Once your new card arrives, follow the instructions in the app to activate it. You'll then be ready to start spending, saving, and managing your money with Monzo.
