Is Monzo Business available to sole traders and freelancers?

Yep. All our Monzo Business Accounts will be available to eligible sole traders, freelancers and limited companies.

Can I lodge cash into the account?

Not right now but we know this is important to businesses so we’re working on it.

Can I take out a business loan?

We don't offer business loans right now, no. We’ve been focusing on cashflow and automating saving for Tax but we know that borrowing’s important to businesses and want to make loans available one day. Watch this space!

Does Monzo Business offer savings?

We do. Grow your money without locking it away with an Instant Access pot. Get a great rate with no strings attached. Earn 1.0% AER (Annual Equivalent Rate) variable interest on your savings, paid monthly and subject to DIRT (Deposit Interest Retention Tax).

Is Monzo a real bank?

Yes! We're a regulated Irish bank with an office in Dublin, an Irish banking licence, local Irish IBANs. We're authorised and regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland and part of the Deposit Guarantee Scheme, which means your eligible deposits are protected up to €100k.

We’re new to Ireland but we have over 1 million business customers in the UK.

Is Monzo safe?

Yes, we're a licensed bank that's authorised and regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland and part of the Deposit Guarantee Scheme (DGS). The Deposit Guarantee Scheme (DGS) is designed to repay eligible deposits up to €100,000 per depositor, per credit institution if an authorised bank, building society or credit union fails.

You might like to know that we have an office in Dublin and although we're new to Ireland, we have 14 million customers in the UK already.

Our industry-first security controls for large payments – like trusted contacts, QR code scanning and known locations – are just a few ways we’re protecting you and your money. Plus things you might already be familiar with, like card freezing if your card gets lost or stolen, and fingerprint or facial recognition to approve online shopping and getting into your Monzo app.

Does Monzo Business have online banking?

We do. You can access your business account in the mobile app and on your laptop or computer using our web app.

How is Monzo Business different?

A Monzo Business Account makes life easier for you and your customers.

We don’t offer loans or support funding programmes right now but instead we’re focusing on what matters to you day to day. Like giving you genuinely helpful cashflow insights, automated tax saving tools, simplified ways to manage your money (and run your business!) and maybe most important of all, a variety of ways to get paid in person or online.

It’s business banking that’s there when you need it and not just when we’re open.
