I see a black screen or “Can’t record” when taking my selfie video

If your selfie video won’t record, try these quick steps.

  1. Update the app — get the latest Monzo from the App Store or Play Store.

  2. Check permissions

  • iPhone: Settings → Monzo → turn on Camera and Microphone.

  • Android: Settings → Apps → Monzo → Permissions → allow Camera and Microphone.

  1. Close Monzo and reopen it.

  2. Restart your phone — power off and on, then try again.

  3. Close other apps that might use the camera (FaceTime, Instagram, Snapchat).

  4. Reinstall Monzo — delete the app, reinstall from the store, log in and try the video.
