How to switch your bank account to Monzo

We haven't launched account switching yet, but we're working to release it very soon! For any updates, you can follow along in our community forum.

When it's live, you can switch your existing bank account to Monzo using our free switching service.

How to start your Switch:

  1. Open the Monzo app.

  2. Go to Profile.

  3. Select Switch to Monzo.

  4. Follow the on-screen steps.

You’ll be asked to choose whether you want to close your old account and to pick a switch date (this must be a working day).

What happens next:

Once you start your switch, Monzo and your old bank handle the process between them.

On your switch date, we’ll:

  • move your Direct Debits and standing orders, and

  • move your balance to Monzo if you chose that option.

Your old account will only be closed if you selected this during the switch.

How long it takes:

We aim to complete most switches within 10 working days, but timings can vary. You usually won’t need to do anything unless we get in touch.
